Jeff Giering is a member of the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice in Greenberg Traurig’s San Diego office. He counsels biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in the strategic creation, evaluation, licensing, and management of patent rights. Jeff’s practice includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, managing prosecution of global patent portfolios, drafting non-infringement and invalidity opinions, conducting due diligence and freedom-to-operate analyses, and advising clients with respect to U.S. interference and inter partes review (IPR) proceedings.
Jeff works with clients to tailor patent strategies to business objectives, and leverages his research experience to help clients navigate patent issues that arise at the intersection of law and science. He is experienced in technology areas including DNA sequencing, molecular diagnostics, stem cell therapeutics, genomics and personalized medicine, gene therapy, therapeutic antibodies, cancer therapeutics, and microbial genetics.
Before he earned his law degree, Jeff worked as a law firm patent agent and scientific advisor. He is also a co-inventor on a patent relating to RNAi therapeutics for the treatment of infections.
