His practice focuses on complex, high value international litigation, arbitration and fraud investigation. Struan represents clients from Europe, the United States, Africa, Asia and the Middle East across the construction, infrastructure, real estate, technology, manufacturing and financial services sectors.

  • Representing a leading international EPC contractor in a $250 million ICC arbitration against its consortium partners arising from the design and construction of a combined-cycle power plant in Asia.
  • Representing a client operating in the luxury hospitality industry against multiple European state-owned entities in complex multi-contract LCIA arbitrations arising from high-profile landmark hotels.
  • Represented BTA bank in a c.$7.5 billion dispute with Mukhtar Ablyazov and Ilyas Khrapunov (including proceedings before the French courts).
  • Acted for a Middle East-based shipping company in a series of related disputes (amounting to approximately $150m) in the London Commercial Court brought by a number of financial institutions alleging breaches of various lending facilities.
  • Acted for clients to contest the enforcement of Russian judgments in England & Wales.
  • Acted for a U.S. appointed receiver in relation to the recovery of assets based in England & Wales.
  • Represented a private equity firm in relation to a high value contractual dispute.
  • Represented a real estate investor seeking a settlement with a third party.
  • Advised a leading pharma company on complex supply agreements in the context of a potential cross-border dispute.
  • Acted for a high net worth individual in relation to an application for an account freezing order issued by the SFO.
  • Represented an international inter-dealer broker in relation to internal employee grievance investigation.
