Ian Burkow concentrates his practice on a wide range of commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract claims, business torts, real estate and construction disputes, employment actions, and regulatory compliance. He also represents clients in white collar criminal matters, including grand jury investigations, bank and health care fraud claims, and sentencing advocacy. He has litigated cases in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration.

  • Representing remediation contractor in fee dispute involving more than $30 million in change order work for major environmental river remediation project.
  • Represented a fire and gas subcontractor in multimillion-dollar equitable adjustment arbitration claim against national contractor related to billion-dollar natural gas liquefaction project. Awarded damages and attorneys’ fees.
  • Representing international gaming testing and certification company in bid protest action filed by competitor.
  • Represented nationwide retailer in lease dispute with owner. Resolved matter through settlement prior trial
  • Represented international real estate investment company in industrial property acquisition dispute. Resolved matter through settlement prior to trial.
  • Represented national property management company in fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, RICO and breach of contract dispute with national development firm over 50-year privatized military housing projects (2011-2015). Resolved matter through settlement prior to trial.
  • Represented financial advising firm in million-dollar arbitration fee dispute against project owner for claims of breach of contract and fraud. Awarded damages and attorneys’ fees.
  • Represented mortgage lending company in putative class action brought on behalf of loan applicants alleging contract and tort claims in connection with data breach incidents perpetrated by third-party cyber-criminals. Resolved matter through settlement prior to trial.
  • Represented employee in federal suit against former employer for retaliation and discrimination.  Prevailed at trial and awarded compensatory damages by jury.
  • Represented entertainment firm in arbitration dispute concerning enforceability of restrictive covenants in former employees’ employment agreements. 
  • Conducted internal investigation for international medical device company of corporate fraud perpetrated by former executive.
