DALLAS – Feb. 28, 2024 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP secured a summary judgment for SC Houston, LLC, a subsidiary of SC Shipping, a Chinese bulk-liquid chemical transport service.
“We are thrilled with the court’s ruling and to have this case resolved. With that, we look to the future and SC Houston’s continuing commitment to leading the industry by pursuing excellence and advocating for progress,” MS XU, the general counsel of client said. “A special thank you to Jordan Cowman and the Greenberg Traurig team for their legal guidance.”
The plaintiff brought forth allegations of claims for breach of contract and promissory estoppel in the 234th Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas. The court granted summary judgment in favor of SC Houston, LLC and thus all remaining claims against SC Shipping entities were fully dismissed with prejudice. Additionally, the parties agreed that SC Houston would release any claims against the plaintiff, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, in exchange for the plaintiff forgoing their appeal rights.
“It was an honor to defend SC Houston from these baseless claims brought against them, and we thank their team for their continued trust in our attorneys and legal strategies,” said Labor & Employment Shareholder Jordan W. Cowman, who led the case. “We look forward to future opportunities to work alongside SC Houston and SC Shipping.”
The Greenberg Traurig team also included Of Counsel Amanda A. Williams in Dallas.
