Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Shareholder Reena R. Bajowala Wins South Asian Bar Association North America Cornerstone Award

CHICAGO -- July 24, 2023 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Shareholder Reena R. Bajowala won a South Asian Bar Association (SABA) North America Cornerstone Award. The honor was presented July 22 at the group’s 2023 conference in Boston.

According to SABA, the award is given to individuals who are a "cornerstone" of SABA North America and “exemplify the objectives of the organization through their legal work or their involvement with SABA North America, SABA Foundation, or local SABA chapters.

Chicago office-based Bajowala has been a SABA member since 2005 and has held numerous leadership positions at the local and national level. She was former chair of its National Membership Committee (2010-2011); former co-chair of the Chicago Women’s Committee (2012-2013); and co-chair of the 2008 Chicago conference.

Bajowala, who joined Greenberg Traurig earlier this year, has deep experience with data security, information technology, and privacy law issues from both a counselling and litigation perspective. She investigates data breaches, including business email compromise, ransomware, or wire transfer fraud scenarios. Bajowala conducts risk assessments, develops privacy and information security compliance programs, and plans for potential data security incidents. In addition, she helps evaluate legal risks relating to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, connected devices, and drones.

Bajowala also has extensive litigation and trial experience. She represents buyers and providers of IT services facing issues ranging from billing and performance disputes to copyright and licensing disputes. She is on the steering committee of the Cyber Fraud Task Force and was selected as a 2021-2023 Business Law Fellow in the Cybersecurity Subcommittee for the American Bar Association.
