NEW JERSEY – June 13, 2023 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, strategically expanded its Insurance Regulatory Practice with the addition of Michael J. Morris, who has joined as a shareholder from Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C.
Morris advises health and property casualty insurers, managed care providers, third-party administrators and insurance producers on regulatory issues. He also represents clients in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, litigating insurance regulatory disputes. He is based in the firm’s Charlotte, North Carolina, and New Jersey offices.
“Demand for legal representation on insurance matters cuts across all business sectors. Adding an experienced attorney such as Mike strengthens Greenberg Traurig’s already extensive insurance practice,” said Fred E. Karlinsky and Laura E. Evangelista, co-chairs of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Insurance Regulatory and Transactions Practice. “His deep experience in advising insurers, managed care companies, and other insurance-related interests will enable the firm to better serve our clients.”
Chambers International cited the firm’s highly ranked state Insurance practice teams in its 2023 rankings released June 1.
“Joining a law firm with global footprint, which provides me with access to ancillary practices such as tax, corporate, intellectual property, and technology, will allow me to provide more broad-based representation for our clients,” Morris said.
Among his representative matters, Morris served as national regulatory counsel and represented a rapidly expanding managed health care plan sponsor in the formation and licensing of HMOs and stock health insurers in several states; counselled several New Jersey organized health care delivery systems in obtaining an initial licensing or certifying, modifying, and expanding their licensing; and served as lead counsel for a national managed care plan sponsor forming a North Carolina HMO entering the individual qualified health plan market, with continuing engagement in health system contracting and development of state-specific policies and procedures.
“Mike is an experienced insurance regulatory attorney who expands the reach of our insurance regulatory and transactions practice, said David Jay and David W. Oppenheim, co-managing shareholders of the firm’s New Jersey office in Florham Park.
