Greenberg Traurig advises Oxford Properties on expansion of food and beverage offerings at Sony Center Berlin

Greenberg Traurig advised Oxford Properties Group (Oxford) on the lease agreements with three food service operators in the Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. In addition to the London street-food organization KERB, the sandwich chain Prêt à Manger is also to move into the Sony Center. The Corroboree restaurant, which has been in operation since the opening, complements the complex's food and beverage concept. The owners of the Sony Center, Oxford, and Norges Bank Investment Management are investing over 200 million euros in refurbishing the architectural icon.

Oxford as an international real estate investor and asset manager has been invested in the Sony Center since 2017. Norges Bank Investment Management has been Oxford's new partner with a 50 percent stake since 2022. Built in 2000 to designs by renowned architect Helmut Jahn, the Sony Center is a 113,000-square-foot mixed-use complex located on Potsdamer Platz in the heart of Berlin.

Since the acquisition by Oxford, Greenberg Traurig has been providing ongoing asset management support, in particular in connection with the conclusion of leases and the revitalization of the building complex.

Background: Oxford is a long-standing client of Greenberg Traurig. In 2017, Greenberg Traurig advised Oxford and the then co-investor Madison on the acquisition and financing of the Sony Center and, most recently, on the sale of a 50 percent stake and the establishment of a joint venture with Norges.
