MINNEAPOLIS – Sept. 24, 2019 – Alexander J. Kim, a shareholder in the Minneapolis office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been inducted as president of the International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL). He was formally inducted at the association’s 27th Annual Conference in Seoul, Korea, Sept. 19-22.
According to its website, IAKL was founded in 1987 with a primary purpose of promoting communication and friendship between lawyers of Korean heritage around the world. IAKL’s members include legal professionals of Korean descent, and others interested in the development of the legal profession in Korea and within overseas Korean communities.
Kim focuses his practice on matters involving U.S. patent prosecution as well as counseling clients on international patent matters. He has wide-ranging experience in prosecuting patent applications in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Kim has a background in physics, chemistry, biophysics, computational biology, and physiology, and deep knowledge across a broad range of technologies and industries.
Kim founded the Korean American Bar Association of Minnesota. He is also involved with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association, of which he is an advisory board member and former president and executive board member.
