Former Colorado Gov. Bill Owens has joined Greenberg Traurig LLP’s Denver office as senior director in its government law and policy practice, where he’ll advise clients on capital and infrastructure projects and public policy matters, the firm said Wednesday.
Owens served from 1999 to 2007 as the state’s 40th governor, winning re-election in 2002 and defeating the Democratic candidate by the largest margin in Colorado history. He’s chaired both the Western Governors' Association and the Republican Governors Association and served as state treasurer, where he managed the state’s $5 billion investment portfolio.
In addition to his public service, Owens has worked extensively in the private sector in areas including energy, infrastructure and water. He also currently serves on the boards of several publicly traded companies, including Cloud Peak Energy and Federal Signal Corp.
