Shira focuses her practice on labor and employment matters. She also has experience with a wide variety of complex commercial litigation. She regularly represents management in virtually all aspects of labor and employment law. She counsels employers on managing workplace issues, drafts employment agreements, handbooks and policies, investigates and litigates whistleblower claims, discrimination and retaliation claims, and claims involving all sorts of restrictive covenants. Shira partners with her clients to help them achieve their strategic business and legal goals wherever they face challenges.

Experience

  • Obtained complete dismissals of claims of discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblowing.
  • Counsels and trains employers on managing workplace issues and preventing lawsuits, including anti-harassment and respectful workforce training.
  • Drafts, enforces and defends non-competition, non-solicitation, non-disclosure, and nondisparagement agreements.
  • Audits regarding proper classification of employees under the FLSA.
  • Defends employers in DOL actions and private actions under the FLSA regarding purported misclassification of employees and alleged failure to pay overtime and recently defeated conditional certification of a class making claims under the FLSA.
  • Obtained complete judgment in favor of property owners to clear title.
  • Obtained affirmation of multimillion-dollar judgment in a breach of contract for sale of partnership interest.
  • Obtained judgments for property owners in condemnation cases.
  • Resolved claims of trade secret misappropriation.
