Greenberg Traurig’s Joel H. Rothstein Featured Speaker at Japan Hospitality Conference

TOKYO – Nov. 12, 2024 – Joel H. Rothstein, chair of the Asia Real Estate Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, was a featured speaker at the third-annual Hospitality Japan Conference held Oct. 8-9 in Tokyo. The event, organized by Hospitality Asia Media, brings together speakers and participants from more than 200 leading companies in the hospitality sector throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Rothstein led a panel discussion on international hotel management, licensing, and franchise agreements. The discussion focused on the rising trend of branding or rebranding hotel and resort properties with international names in Japan. Topics included how to optimize partnerships with global market players and negotiate the critical legal agreements that define the relationship between hotel owners and international managers or brands. The speakers offered strategic approaches to aligning operational goals, ensuring mutual economic benefits, and securing favorable terms in management, licensing, and franchise agreements to drive success in today’s competitive hospitality landscape.

Rothstein is an international real estate and structured finance lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in Asia. Based in Tokyo, he splits his time among Greenberg Traurig’s four offices in Asia, where he leads the firm’s Asia Real Estate Practice and advises investment banks, financial institutions, private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, real estate developers, and investors across all major Asia markets and across all key asset classes. He also guides the firm’s practice advising Asia-based outbound cross-border investors in structuring, implementing, and managing equity and debt investments into the United States, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
