Greenberg Traurig's restructuring unit in Germany, GT Restructuring, wins lawyer Annette Benner for its team. Annette Benner focuses her practice on complex, real estate-related restructurings and becomes a partner at GT Restructuring as of June 2023.
Annette Benner is a lawyer and trained legal officer with extensive experience in virtually all matters related to the management, restructuring, and repositioning of real estate investments and financings. She has been closely related with Greenberg Traurig for many years through her work at LNR, Hatfield Philips, later Situs, as well as RFR. At GT Restructuring, Annette Benner will build on her years of experience to develop new and holistic advisory products for creditors in difficult situations, covering not only the legal but also the commercial aspects of real estate restructuring and real estate repositioning.
"Due to the current market environment and the increased number of inquiries from the real estate industry, we see a lot of potential for a joint advisory approach to projects in distress," Greenberg Traurig Germany Managing Partner Peter Schorling said. GT Restructuring Partner Gordon Geiser added, "We are very happy about this gain, which some of our market peers would also have liked to see."
Annette Benner complements a steadily growing restructuring team that accompanies complex insolvency proceedings and restructuring processes, develops restructuring measures, and supports their implementation. She will be the fourth partner in the team alongside Gordon Geiser, Jesko Stark, and Benedikt de Bruyn, who head GT Restructuring, which has offices in Berlin and Munich. GT Restructuring's lawyers are regularly appointed as insolvency administrators and trustees. In 2022, according to INDat Barometer, they topped the list of most frequent appointments in corporate insolvency proceedings in Berlin.
