4 Greenberg Traurig Women Attorneys Recognised in Best Lawyers in the United Kingdom

LONDON – June 9, 2020 – The 2021 edition of Best Lawyers in the United Kingdom recognises four women attorneys from Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s London office: Fiona Adams in mergers and acquisitions law; Naomi Feinstein in employment law; Dorothee Fischer-Appelt in capital markets law; and Emma L. Menzies in banking and finance law. According to Best Lawyers, inclusion in its guide is based on peer-review.

All four women are shareholders in the London office, in addition Adams is the managing shareholder of the office and co-chair of the firm’s Global Corporate Practice. With Adams as managing shareholder, the office makes diversity and inclusion a priority, which is reflected the London office’s recent recognitions.

The office was recognised in 2019 by The Lawyer as having the highest percentage of female partners (‘shareholders’) of any US firm active in the UK, and the only one with a partnership proportion in excess of 40%. Fourteen of the 34 shareholders in the London office are women (41%), and nearly 50% of the lawyers in the London office are women.

The London office is fully involved in Greenberg Traurig’s broader gender, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. This has included identifying various shareholders to act as representatives for London in the firmwide Women’s Initiative. That initiative has manifested in the London office through training programmes aimed at raising awareness of issues facing women in the workplace, including implicit bias, imposter syndrome, negotiation skills, and effective communications.

Adams primarily represents corporate clients, focusing her practice on mergers and acquisitions, and other transactional matters. Her work spans a range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, financial institutions, media, and retail.

Feinstein has more than 30 years of experience dealing with all aspects of employment law, both contentious and noncontentious, including transactional work. She has particular experience advising on employment issues arising from mergers and acquisitions and on the employment aspects of business restructurings and reorganisations.

Fischer-Appelt is a New York and English-qualified shareholder with more than 20 years' experience in international capital markets and M&A transactions. She advises clients from a broad range of industries, including banking and insurance, life sciences, real estate and industrials.

Menzies focuses her practice on all types of finance, including general syndicated lending, leveraged finance, project finance and restructurings and workouts. She undertakes a broad range of work, including leveraged finance, restructurings and syndicated loans.
