LOS ANGELES — Nov. 7, 2014 — Shareholders Daniel H. Black and Jay L. Cooper from the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, have been named to the Daily Journal’s list of California’s Top 50 Entertainment Lawyers for 2014. Black is Chair of Greenberg Traurig’s West Coast Entertainment & Media Practice and Cooper is founder of the firm’s Los Angeles Entertainment Practice.
The Daily Journal noted that this list aims to honor attorney achievements in the field of entertainment law, with a special emphasis on the impact of the attorney’s work and matters concerning major issues of the day.
Black has extensive experience in the television, motion picture and digital media arenas, having practiced law both in the major studio and law firm settings. Equally comfortable in the traditional and new media areas, representing corporations and individuals, he has served as lead counsel on numerous transactions with the major motion picture studios and television networks, in addition to major Internet content producing, licensing and advertising entities. His clients include production and distribution, Internet and video game companies as well as advertising agencies, show runners and producers, and on-air television and sports personalities. Black also possesses substantial experience in representing internationally based clients in their entertainment.
Cooper is known throughout the entertainment industry for his four decades of deal making and balanced understanding of both the artist and business. He focuses his practice on music industry, motion picture, television, multimedia and intellectual property issues. His clients include clients including recording artists, motion picture and television producers and writers, composers and individual talent. Cooper lectures at universities such as Harvard, USC, and UCLA.
