Todd is a patent & tech transactions attorney and former helicopter engineer, drawing on more than 15 years of legal and industry experience to help technology companies protect and commercialize their innovations. In particular, his practice focuses on:
- Patents – Developing strategic patent portfolios geared towards attracting investment, protecting market share, and other legal goals
- Tech Transactions – Negotiating industry and customer partnerships while protecting your technology and minimizing business disruption should future problems arise
- Software Licensing – Navigating numerous software-related legal issues for various licensing models including IP and data ownership, terms of use, and open source software (OSS) risks
- M&A and Investment – Helping investors understand what they are buying and mitigating the associated risks; helping sellers position their technology assets to maximize company valuation and attract funding opportunities
Todd is also a Part 107 drone pilot who frequently speaks at robotics and drone conferences on various intellectual property, data, and regulatory matters. Prior to becoming an attorney, he was an engineer at Bell Helicopter where he designed cutting-edge aerospace technologies and software. Todd also helped develop electromechanical control systems for military drones at Smiths Aerospace during his undergraduate studies at Georgia Tech, and clerked at St. Jude Medical’s Neuromodulation Division during law school.
