Greenberg Traurig Associates Recognized By Leadership Miami

MIAMI – June 11, 2024 – The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s (GMCC) Leadership Miami initiative recognized a team led by Greenberg Traurig, P.A. Miami Real Estate Associate Jin Xin with its “Project of the Year” Award during the program’s graduation ceremony June 6 at the University of Miami.

GMCC’s Leadership Miami is an annual program in partnership with the South Florida Progress Foundation. The program offers participants an intensive learning experience that focuses on community issues and leadership development.

Xin and Greenberg Traurig Miami Litigation Associate Emiley Pagrabs were among the 48 members of GMCC’s Leadership Miami Class 45 Spring.

Xin’s volunteer service project benefited local nonprofit Camillus House, which provides comprehensive services to people experiencing homelessness in Miami-Dade County. Her team created a sustainable community garden in partnership with Camillus House’s Verde Gardens in Homestead to help make fresh produce more accessible. The team raised over $67,300 to support the garden and partnered with the following third-party educational organizations to ensure the garden’s sustainability: (a) Soular Plant will provide one academic year of STEM curriculum, (b) EatWell Exchange will teach the residents culturally based healthy eating, and (c) Ready, Set, Grow! will provide gardening consultation services.

In addition to being named “Project of the Year,” the team effort was recognized by the GMCC with an “Outstanding Project” award for Leadership Miami’s Spring 2024 program.

“Working with Leadership Miami and Camillus House on this initiative has been incredibly rewarding both on a professional and personal level,” Xin said. “I hope that this project can serve as a blueprint for other sustainable gardens throughout the community.”

Pagrabs also worked with a local nonprofit, Be Strong International, as part of their Back-to-School Strong initiative, which provides high quality bookbags filled with school supplies to children in need in Miami-Dade County. Through their project, the team raised money to provide 1,000 bookbags and stock two school supplies lockers in Miami-Dade schools, ensuring that students have access to supplies all year round.

“Not being from Miami or South Florida, Leadership Miami gave me the opportunity not only to grow my professional and personal network, but also to learn more about and make a difference in the Miami community,” Pagrabs said.
